What is English
New Zealand?

Government and industry organisations, both in New Zealand and overseas, recognise English New Zealand as the voice for the English language sector.

The group was established in 1986 by pioneering language school operators.  They recognised the study and tourism opportunities New Zealand could offer international students.  In 2004 our name became English New Zealand.

We represent a group of well-established, quality English language schools located throughout New Zealand.

More than two-thirds of the students enrolled in private tertiary English language providers choose English New Zealand schools.

Membership is not automatic – applicants are inspected and need to meet the English New Zealand Standards over and above NZQA requirements.
The English New Zealand Standards cover academic and management criteria, and members must employ teachers with specialist TESOL qualifications and experience.

Regular audits and random spot checks of member schools ensure quality is maintained.

Look for the English New Zealand logo to be sure that a school meets our quality assurance standards.
