ABC College of English (ABC), an NZQA Category 1 provider was established in 1994. Located in the heart of Queenstown, close to the town’s vibrant shops and cafes, our boutique private English language school is now in association with Worldwide School of English.Â
As a member of English New Zealand, ABC offers additional quality assurance through meeting the English New Zealand Standards. This provides extra confidence for students and study abroad agencies.

Facilities and activities available at ABC College of English
The minimum age for students is 18 for individuals, and 14 for Group Study Tours.
With classes taught at our Earl Street site and QRC House, study takes place in the heart of Queenstown surrounded by breathtaking views of the town and surrounding mountains.
Students have access to modern facilities including the student café at QRC. Job placement services are also available.
It is only a few minutes’ walk from the town centre and the shores of Lake Wakatipu. It is also next to the beautiful Queenstown Botanical Gardens.
Queenstown becomes the classroom through weekly blended learning experiences and activities.
Courses available at ABC College of English
We offer General English (from elementary level), IELTS courses, English Plus and Group study tours.
Courses focus on building confidence through both productive skills (writing, speaking) and receptive skills (listening, reading).
Whether you want to improve your overall English proficiency or prepare for the IELTS exam or employment, ABC College of English has a programme to suit your needs.
ABC is the IELTS testing centre for the Central Otago region. We also offer a pathway visa opportunity with Queenstown Resort College and the University of Otago.

Small class sizes (maximum 15, on average 8 – 10) ensure you get individual attention and support.

Shotover Lodge, is a shared facility providing safe, warm, and secure accommodation for students from both ABC and Queenstown Resort College (QRC), which specialises in tourism and hospitality Management education.
Conveniently located at the base of Coronet Peak ski area and only 7-minute bus ride to where you will study, the accommodation features:
- Single and double rooms
- All rooms include kitchenet, ensuite toilet/bathroom, central heating and Wi-Fi
- Access to communal commercial kitchen, laundry and free car parking
Homestay accommodation with a friendly host family can be arranged for an immersive experience. Other options include: Hotels, Motels, Bed & Breakfast, Serviced Apartments and Hostels.
