Kim Renner BA, RSA CELTA

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

Kim has worked with English New Zealand since September 2006. She is responsible for managing the strategy, marketing and secretariat functions of the organisation including membership services, generic marketing and arranging offshore retailer workshops. Having worked in the English language industry since 1993, Kim has experience in various roles within the language school environment including management of sales and marketing.

Darren Conway MBA, MAppLing, BA, DTEFLA

Chairman

Darren is Managing Director and co-owner of Languages International. After completing his RSA Prep Cert in London in 1989 he taught in Cairo, London and Sydney, before starting as
a teacher at Languages International, Auckland, in 1993. Darren has extensive experience in the industry as a teacher, teacher trainer, lecturer, textbook writer, examiner and exam item writer, marketer and manager.

Jan Clarke BA, Dip Arts, Cert TESOL

Board Member

Jan has been involved in the EFL industry for over 25 years both in Japan and New Zealand. She started life as a teacher before moving into a management role at Rotorua English Language Academy where she has worked for the last 20 years. 


 

Maureen Hayes BA, MA, RSA Cert TEFLA

Board Member

Maureen has been involved in the EFL industry since 1991 and became an Owner/Director of Worldwide School of English, Auckland, in 1996. Her experience includes service as a former Executive member and Chair of CRELS NZ, and Maureen has served on the English New Zealand Board since June 2012.

Andrew Fisher MA in English (First Class Hons), DELTA 

Board Member

Andrew is the Principal/General Manager of Dominion English Schools in Auckland, a position he has held since November 2016. He has been involved with ESL since 1992 as a teacher, Director of Studies and Principal. Andrew joins the English New Zealand Board for the first time in July 2018 and looks forward to contributing to the organisation's progress through the coming years.


 

Heather Knox MA, DELTA, Cert Adult Education and Training, Cert Tertiary Learning and Teaching

Board Member

Heather is Manager of the School of English at Ara Institute of Canterbury, Christchurch. She has 25 years’ experience in English language education in a range of contexts both in New Zealand and abroad (in Thailand, China, Hong Kong and Brazil), having worked as a teacher, examiner, teacher trainer, Director of Studies and Academic Manager, and in marketing, student support and customer service roles. Her qualifications include the Cambridge CELTA, completed while living in Bangkok, the Cambridge DELTA, completed by distance, and certificates in tertiary and adult teaching and learning. Heather joins the Board from October 2018.
