Kim Renner BA, RSA CELTA


Kim has worked with English New Zealand since September 2006. She is responsible for managing the strategy, marketing and secretariat functions of the organisation including membership services, generic marketing and arranging offshore retailer workshops. Having worked in the English language industry since 1993, Kim has experience in various roles within the language school environment including management of sales and marketing.

Wayne Dyer MAppLing, BA, DipTEFLA, CTEFLA


Wayne is the Principal of Auckland English Academy and the wider ICL Education Group, which also includes English New Zealand member schools, New Horizon College and Bridge International College.
He has been involved in the English language teaching industry for the better part of 30 years, working in Spain, the UK, Turkey, Australia and New Zealand and has held senior leadership roles in both public and private sector organisations.


Tim Mahren Brown BA Hons Linguistics

Board Member

Tim is Chief Executive of The Campbell Institute, an English language school he co-founded in 2002. Tim is a graduate in Linguistics, French and Chinese from the University of Canterbury, and has a first class Honours Degree in Linguistics from Victoria University of Wellington. Tim is Deputy Chair of Education Wellington and project managed the development of the English Language Sector Strategic Roadmap for Education New Zealand. Tim has lived, studied and taught in many countries, including France, Costa Rica, USA, Tahiti, China and Taiwan.


Maureen Hayes BA, MA, RSA Cert TEFLA

Board Member

Maureen has been involved in the EFL industry since 1991 and became an Owner/Director of Worldwide School of English, Auckland, in 1996. Her experience includes service as a former Executive member and Chair of CRELS NZ, and Maureen has served on the English New Zealand Board since June 2012.


Beth Knowles 

Board Member

Beth has over 20 years' experience in the international education area and has worked in three government tertiary institutions in New Zealand prior to her appointment in 2007 as International Director at Ara Institute of Canterbury.  Beth's career spans the fields of business development, export education marketing, internationalisation of tertiary institutions, staff and student exchange, technical and vocational education and training and international education consultancy.  In addition, her work experience includes trade development and international business exchange.  
Beth is a passionate advocate for language learning and the contribution English language schools make in preparing international students for further study opportunities and work force skills development in New Zealand and overseas.



Terry Leotta

Board Member

Terry Leotta is Head of the Auckland Institute of Studies English Language Centre, a position he has held since 2002.
With over 20 years' experience in the language teaching industry, both overseas and in New Zealand, Terry has worked in smaller private language schools as well as larger tertiary organisations. He has also been involved in offshore delivery initiatives.
Terry is a member of the AIS Academic Board and Management Team and is involved in marketing the ELC.
